Privacy Policy

for Altar

Effective date: August 13, 2026  ·  This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Prayer is personal, and we've built Altar that way. The prayers and journal entries you write never leave your device unless you choose to back them up yourself. Here's the full picture of what we do and don't collect.

The short version

  • You don’t create an account with us to use Altar.
  • We never receive your prayers, journal entries, or photos. They stay on your device.
  • We collect app usage and crash data to keep the app working and improve it.
  • We use RevenueCat to manage your subscription or purchase — we never see your card details.
  • Prayer reminders are scheduled by your own device. Nothing is pushed to you from our servers.
  • We don’t show ads, and we don’t sell your personal information.
  • Optional backups go to a folder you pick, or to your own Google Drive or iCloud.

Who we are & scope

This Privacy Policy describes how Creative Expressions Collective LLC, a single-member limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA (“Creative Expressions,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the Altar mobile application and related services (the “App”).

The App does not require you to create an account with us, and we do not operate user accounts or hold login credentials. This policy does not cover the practices of third parties such as Apple, Google, or RevenueCat, which maintain their own privacy policies (see Section 13).

Your prayers stay yours

Altar is built around content you create: prayer topics and details, prayer notes, journal entries, the days you mark as prayed, categories you make, Scripture you highlight or pin, and any photos you attach.

All of this is stored locally on your device. It is not transmitted to us, we have no servers that hold it, and we cannot read it. We could not produce a copy of your prayers if we were asked to, because we never have them.

There are only two ways this content leaves your device, and both are entirely under your control:

  • A backup file you create. You can save a backup to a folder you choose on your device. That file is yours to keep, move, or delete.
  • Optional cloud backup. If you turn it on, your backup file is uploaded to your own Google Drive or Apple iCloud account. It sits in your personal cloud storage, governed by Google’s or Apple’s terms and privacy policies. We have no access to your cloud account or to the file stored in it.

If you delete the App, the content stored on your device is removed with it. Any backup files you created — on your device or in your own cloud account — remain until you delete them yourself.

Information we collect

Information you provide to us

If you email us — for example, for support — we receive your email address and the contents of your message, along with anything you choose to include in it.

Usage & analytics information

We use an analytics service (Google Firebase Analytics) to understand how the App is used so we can improve it. This covers things like which screens are opened, which features are used and how often, your app version, device type and model, operating-system version, language and region settings, and app-generated identifiers.

These are counts and events about how the App is used — for example, that a prayer was created, or that the journal screen was opened. They never include the content of what you wrote. We do not collect your precise GPS location.

Crash & diagnostic information

We use a crash-reporting tool (Google Firebase Crashlytics) that collects diagnostic data when the App runs into a problem — crash logs, the state of the App at the time of the error, device model, and operating-system version. This helps us find and fix bugs.

Purchase information

Altar offers a free trial, auto-renewing subscriptions, and a one-time lifetime purchase. Your payment is processed by Apple or Google, and we never receive your full payment-card details. We use RevenueCat to validate and manage your purchase and to restore it across your devices. Through RevenueCat we receive information such as purchase events, app-store transaction identifiers, whether you have unlocked premium features (your entitlement), an anonymized app-user identifier, and basic device information.

Photos

If you choose to add a photo to a prayer or a journal entry, the App asks your device for permission to access your photo library. Any photo you pick is copied into the App’s private storage on your device. Photos are never uploaded to us. You can decline photo access and use every other part of the App normally.

Reminders (no push notifications)

Prayer reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely by your own device’s operating system. Altar does not use push notifications, and we do not collect a push token or maintain any ability to send you messages. If you grant notification permission, that permission is used only for reminders you set yourself, at the times you choose.

How we use information

We use the limited information described above to:

  • operate, maintain, and provide the App and its features;
  • validate, manage, and restore your subscription or purchase;
  • detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and bugs;
  • understand which features are used so we can improve the App;
  • respond to your support requests and communicate with you;
  • protect the App and our users and prevent misuse or abuse;
  • comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not use it to train machine-learning models.

Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases to process your information:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the App and to process, renew, and restore your subscription or purchase;
  • Your consent — for notifications and photo access, and for analytics and diagnostics where consent is required;
  • Our legitimate interests — to improve, maintain, and secure the App, balanced against your rights and freedoms;
  • Legal obligation — where we must process information to comply with the law.

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time — for example, by turning off notifications or revoking photo access in your device settings.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The App contains no third-party advertising.

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers. With companies that help us run the App and that process information on our behalf — namely our analytics provider, our crash-reporting provider, and RevenueCat — under their respective terms.
  • App stores. With Apple and Google, which process your payment and provide the platform on which the App runs.
  • Legal & safety. When we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with the law or a legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our users, the public, or us.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the recipient to honor this policy.

To be explicit: the content you write in Altar is not among the information shared with anyone, because we never receive it in the first place.

Reminders & your choices

  • Reminders: set, change, or delete prayer reminders inside the App at any time, or turn notifications off entirely in your device settings.
  • Photos: photo access is optional and can be revoked in your device settings. Photos already copied into the App stay on your device until you remove them.
  • Analytics & diagnostics: you can limit or reset your device’s advertising identifier and adjust the tracking and diagnostics settings offered by your operating system.
  • Cloud backup: leave it off, or turn it off at any time. You can also delete the backup file from your own Drive or iCloud whenever you like.
  • Deleting everything: deleting the App removes the prayers and journal entries stored on your device. Remember to delete any backup files you made if you want them gone too.
  • Email: you can stop emailing us at any time; we only respond to messages you send.

Data retention

The content you create is retained on your device for as long as you keep it — you control it entirely, and you can edit or delete any prayer, note, or journal entry at any time.

For the limited information we do receive: analytics and crash data are retained in line with the default retention settings of our providers. Support emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and for our records. Purchase records are retained as needed to provide and restore your purchase and to meet legal and accounting requirements.

Security

Your prayers benefit from the security of the device they live on — they are held in the App’s private storage, which the operating system isolates from other apps, and they are covered by your device passcode and encryption.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the limited information we do receive against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Backup files you create are not encrypted by us — please store them somewhere you trust.

Children’s privacy

Altar is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction).

If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@creativeexpressionscollective.co, and we will take reasonable steps to delete it. We encourage parents and guardians to supervise children’s use of the App.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port it, and to object to or restrict certain processing or withdraw consent.

For the content you create in Altar, you can exercise these rights directly and immediately — it's on your device, and you can view, edit, export (via backup), or delete it yourself at any time without asking us.

California residents. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended), and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know, access, delete, and correct your personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

Because we do not operate accounts, the limited information we hold is tied to device or app identifiers rather than to your name. To help us locate the relevant information when you make a request, please include helpful details when you contact us. We will respond as required by applicable law. EEA/UK residents also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority.

International users

We are based in the United States, and the information we process may be stored and processed in the United States and in other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your country. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Third-party services

The App relies on services provided by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. Your subscription or in-app purchase and any optional cloud backup are governed by those companies’ own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review their policies:

  • Apple — see Apple’s privacy policy.
  • Google — see Google’s privacy policy.
  • RevenueCat — see RevenueCat’s privacy policy.

This Privacy Policy works alongside our Terms & Conditions.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide notice within the App where appropriate. Your continued use of the App after an update takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
